Action Research Plan

SCHOOL VISION:

The faculty, staff, and community of ____ ____ High School are committed to providing all students educational opportunities and skills to promote academic achievement and responsible citizenship in a safe and nurturing environment dedicated to the promotion of life-long learning.

GOAL:

  • To provide quantitative data to the stakeholders that proves that fine arts is more than an extra curricular course and is beneficial to student learning.
  • To provide quantitative data to the stakeholders that shows that students who are involved in fine arts programs provide less distractions through discipline problems and the overall academic success of students than those not involved.
  • To address the benefits and purpose of a successful fine arts program to the stakeholders by educating them on the ways fine arts programs can be used as an addition to the core curriculum to further students’ education.
  • To provide the necessary tools to the district in order to justify building the fine arts programs through funding and support.

REFLECTION:
During the process of developing my action research plan I was able to refine my ideas for researching the inquiry.  This also helped me decide on actions to be taken for the future improvement for my school.

  1. I think that fine arts program should become a part of the core curriculum because it is so important to develop an aesthetic sense to appreciate art. I did not realize this until I took the art appreciation class which is a required core class to obtain a bachelor's degree. I also think fine arts really helps a person to vent out all their grudges and feelings and it can substantially help in reducing disciplinary issues.

  2. I wouldn't suggest any changes to your plan, Stacy. It looks great and I'm interested in your topic! You are very organized and thorough. I look forward to following you!

  3. I have "trouble" students in my art class. When they are in my class they are not in trouble. They seem to relax and enjoy drawing or painting or creating. One girl yesterday said, "I like painting, it is so relaxing." This is a great topic. I look forward to your end results.

  4. I think your plan is right on target. I also feel that fine arts programs should become core classes. Art and music serve as such a large part of who we are. I look forward to your results!
